This route establishes a connection between the two initial branches of the French Way: from Roncesvalles and from Aragon. It starts at Pamplone (French Road from Roncesvalles) and ends in Enériz. (French Road from Aragon).
The connection between the two branches is established from the village of Uterga, that is, after the passage through the Alto del Perdón.
El Alto del Perdón is one of the most representative places on the Camino de Santiago as it passes through Navarra. Located at 770 m of altitude in the saw of the same name, it is a spectacular natural viewpoint with panoramic views and has a famous monument made up of a sculptural group in natural size, called "Monument to the Pilgrim“.
This High is therefore a forced step of the pilgrim people who make the Way of Santiago, from Pamplona and who usually complete their stage in Puente la Reina.
But the alternative route you propose here It is a quiet and similar stage in distance from the traditional one. (23.30 Km)

From Pamplona to Uterga we will find all kinds of good signs of the Way of Santiago. With regard to the most common route of this stage of the Way we can find a lot of information from different sources.
- We left Pamplona by walking the Ciudadela Park, following the street Fuente del Hierro and reaching the campus gardens of the University of Navarra.
- We crossed the Medieval bridge of Azella and follow the signs of the Way for 4, 9 km until it reaches Cizur Menor.
- We went through the village and advanced 6, 1 km on tracks and trails already on a sustained but soft ascent to reach Zariquiegui.
- The next 2, 3 km, in progressive ascension, lead to the Alto del Perdón.
- After enjoying the magnificent look that is El Alto del Perdón, we started the 3.5 km of descent, very pronounced at first and something more flat in its last stretch and we reached Uterga.
- We entered Uterga on the way through the Calle Mayor.
From here we start the alternative route and therefore already We're not going to find any more signs of the Way..
- Around 120 m and practically in front of the City Hall, we take the streets of the Eas that part to the left.
- We came to a small place and without leaving the sense of the march we continued to face the Passage of the Era.
- We follow this road for 2 km until we reach a fork that we take to the right.
- In just 600 meters we will reach the Hermitage of San Pedro de Auriz.
- After the hermitage and in the next fork we take the road to the left
- We continue for 900 m until we reach the next fork (next to farms) and take the road to the left that leads us directly to Adiós..
- We went into Adiós on the Street of the Reunion and went straight.
- We bounce a little plate with a fountain and follow straight to the next square where there is also a fountain and here we take the downhill street that goes to our right.
- In just 120 m the street leads to the road. We moved 50 meters through its bow before we went to a road that left.
- We followed him and at 130 m in the fork we took the right branch.
- We continue to keep the direction without turning left or right on any of the small roads we find, until we cross the NA-601 below. And we'll get to Enériz.
